This September, two designs by 3D Season, the Smile coat rack and Yiayia Transformable Bag, were featured in Yanko Design, in articles by Ida Torres.
Smile: a simple answer to a longstanding problem
Why, after decades of furniture design, do we still struggle to reach clothes hanging at the back of a coat rack?
Torres highlights Smile’s 360° rotating head as a solution so simple that it makes us question why we accepted the inconvenience for so long.
Yiayia: transformation rooted in family memory
The article draws a comparison with Bao Bao Issey Miyake’s geometric bags, while highlighting what gives Yiayia its own identity: the transformation of a Cretan embroidery pattern from the designer’s family into a contemporary, adaptable object.
Torres closes with a personal note: she intends to follow 3D Season’s future work closely and will probably start saving for one of the studio’s bags.
